Buganda Kingdom Honors Suzan Muwonge

Katikkiro handing over the Award to Suzan Muwonge flunked by the Minister of State for Education Herbert SemakulaKatikkiro Eng J.B. Walusimbi has urged women to identify and develop their talents.

Katikkiro who was speaking during a ceremony organized by Buganda Kingdom to honor Super Lady Suzan Muwonge for her brilliant success in rally driving across Africa advised women to emulate Suzan who has stood out firmly to compete with the men.

He explained that rally driving is a sporting activity widely considered to be for the men but that Suzan stood up to all the challenges and came out as a winner which he said should inspire other women.

Katikkiro noted that many women shy are from most competitions which he said is a hindrance to their talent identification and development.

He added that talent development has helped many to earn a good living and therefore urged parents to help their children in talent identification and development which he said might be their source of income in the future.Suzan shows off her Award to the world flunked by her husband

Katikkiro explained further that sports is a good activity as its brings about sharing of ideas since it brings together people with varying ideologies and at the same time good for people’s health.

The Minister of State for Education in Buganda Kingdom, Herbert Semakula commended Suzan for her determination which helped her with the USPA Gala Award of the year 2011 and becoming the number 1 woman rally driver across Africa.

In her speech, Suzan said that her determination was the key to her success in rally driving coupled with the support from her husband Muwonge.

She therefore urged parents and teachers not to sit on their children’s talents since they can be of great help and success if well developed and respected.

Suzan’s husband Muwonge was also commended for the support he has rendered to his wife and her father Fred Kitonsa was also given applause for supporting sports across Buganda. It should be remembered that Fred Kitonsa donated a trophy set to be competed by all traditional institutions across the country meant to strengthen ties between Buganda and other traditional institutions. She received an award from the Kingdom for her performance.

Both Suzan and her husband Muwonge are professional teachers and parents as well.
