Katikkiro Flags off Wamala Tombs Renovation

Katikkiro handing over the Contract to Aloysius Lubowa who has been contracted to rebuild BatandabezaalaKatikkiro Eng J.B. Walusimbi has flagged of the reconstruction of Wamala Tombs with a call for joint efforts in this noble cause.

Katikkiro who was speaking during the official inauguration of the reconstruction of Wamala Tombs explained that there was need to begin with Wamala Tombs because they are in a pathetic state yet Ssekabaka Ssuuna who was laid there is the sole reason for the existence all the late Kings at Kasubi Tombs.

He explained further that Wamala tombs have no strings attached like it is with Kasubi Tombs where the Kingdom has to fulfill all the requirements of UNESCO to maintain the site among the World Heritage Sites.Batandabezaala, the Main House at Wamala Tombs in its present state

Katikkiro revealed that all the architectural plans have been drawn by professionals and the work has been contracted to Aloysius Lubowa who is expected to complete all the structural work on Batandabezaala house within two months and the entire projected is expected complete in six months.

He therefore called upon everyone in Buganda especially the Masaza chiefs to mobilize people from their respective counties and the required resources to make the project a success. Katikkiro launches Bulungibwansi activities around Wamala Tombs spear headed by BANGAWA

Katikkiro assured that the exercise will cover all the 32 tombs around Buganda as a way of maintaining the Kingdom’s prestigious status and be exemplary to the future generation.

Katikkiro Walusimbi presented all the items for the sacred meal that precedes the construction of any traditionally attached house and flagged off the work from 14th February, 2012.
