Kabowa, Kyaddondo

Katikkro Charles Peter Mayiga has warned illegal occupants on kabaka’s land that hosts the mujaguzo palace in Kabowa to stay away from land grabbers who sale to them land that belongs to Mujaguzo palace.

This came after the Katikiro traversed the 40-acre land although it is only 3 acres that are currently available since the rest of it was illegally sold off by people who claim to be influential in the Kingdom matters yet they were just assigned to keep the palace in its good order.

Buyers have constructed permanent houses and established businesses on it.

The Katikkiro asserted that those who steal the Kabaka’s land start by tarnishing Buganda land board before they start grabbing the Kingdom land.

Kawuula, Frank Mugalu the one in charge of the palace at Mujaguzo reported to Katikkiro a number of people engaged in grabbing land at Mujaguzo, among which politicians and government officials are involved.

Meanwhile, the area residents appreciated the katikkiro and Buganda kingdom at large for the efforts and initiative to save the Buganda land which had become land grabbers paradise.

Katikkiro further warned caretakers not to continue with any construction activity on this land because no one is entrusted with the authority to do so.

However, the Rubaga division mayor Asuman Ntale asserted that they are about to destroy all buildings that are wrongly occupying the kabaka’s land at Mujaguzo.

Buganda’s minister in charge of palaces, heritage and tourism, David Kyewalabye Male, said they are going to build a perimeter wall around the boundaries of Mujaguzo palace.

Mujaguzo palace accommodates the traditional drums of Buganda including; Namanyonyi, Katula, Kawuula, and Mujaguzo.
