The Kingdom of Buganda is situated in the Central region of the country known today as Uganda. It is right in the heart of Africa astride the Equator and in the North West shores of Lake Victoria and it's also the source of the great river Nile. Buganda Kingdom is the home to the nation's political and commercial capital city Kampala as well as the country's main International airport Entebbe.

The Kingdom's equatorial climate provides plentiful sunshine which is moderated by relatively high altitude. Since it's near Lake Victoria, it's mean annual temperature ranges from 16 degrees 25 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperature averages between 8 degrees to 10 degrees Celsius warmer than night temperatures. Rainfall is evenly distributed around the area and the mean annual rainfall often exceeds 2100 millimeters. Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has commended the United Nations under the leadership of the secretary General Antonio Gueterres for drawing attention and brokering Partnerships to address the environmental and climate change crisis facing the world.

His Majesty also commended the UN environment programme UNEP, United Nations Development Programme UNDP , and other UN agencies such as FAO ,UNICEF and UNESCO for their support .

He emphasized that Environmental degradation and climate change are major threats to both People and nature around the world.

In His Speech delivered by Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda Luswata during the 2019 Global landscapes forum at the international conference Centre –Accra ,Ghana , Kabaka pointed out that the Pivotal role played by Non-state actors such as Traditional leaders and cultural institutions is very instrumental in the Protection and management of our natural resources within communities .

Kabaka added that Buganda Kingdom welcomes the Partnership with the United Nations, Asantehene of Ghana,and other cultural keepers across Africa and all partners to further their work on environmental protect .

His Majesty also noted that , Historically Buganda Kingdom has advocated for Protection of forests , conservation of wetlands and Promotion of sustainable agriculture among others citing Buganda’s totem system of 54 clans which is one of the few surviving and respected cultural norms in the Kingdom which has played a key role in nature preservation .

Nnabagereka revealed that the Kingdom of Buganda will remain committed and at the forefront of campaigning for protection of the environment including wetlands and forests and will continue to be a champion in these matters.

The Chief of staff in Ghana Maame Fremah Osei Opare who represented President Nana Akufo-Addo noted that there is need for all African leaders to forge way forward to curb down the increasing environmental degradation Ashanti

Asante Hene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, who was represented by Adu Mensel one of the chiefs in Ashanti Kingdom said that there is need to empower local People who degrade the environment.
