The 2017 edition was launched at Bulange today afternoon. It’s no longer Miss Tourism Buganda, it’s now Miss Buganda.

The beauty pageant this year promises to be even bigger than before as it transformed from Miss Tourism Buganda to Miss Buganda to make it general and to strengthen full ownership of the brand by the Kingdom.

Speaking at the launch, the speaker of the Buganda Lukiiko Nelson Kawalya who represented Honorable Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi who doubles as state Minister for Tourism urged the beauty queens to be aware of the activities that which can attract them to acquire HIV AIDS. “You should not miss use your beauty as routes to follow into the traps of infected Men”. He added

Buganda government’s state minister for tourism, Ritah Namyalo cleared the air by claiming that Buganda now has the full responsibilities over the contest without any affiliations attached to the organizing of the Miss Buganda.

Sure Deal Beauty Centre has come on board with a generous sponsorship package worth millions of shillings to cater for the edition till the end.

After the launch, the organizers will now traverse the 18 counties of Buganda with each county producing 3 winners who will be entered in a boot camp and screened up to 18 members who will contest at the finals slated in September this year.

The winner of Miss Buganda will be joined with other winners from 12 regions of Uganda, who will compete for Miss Tourism Uganda. The winner of this round will represent Uganda in Miss Tourism international.
