The Kingdom of Buganda has today celebrated the Children’s Day to mark the beginning of pre-activities of the 25th Coronation anniversary of Ssaabasajja Kabaka, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Children from different schools all over Buganda gathered at Lubiri, Mengo to lead the celebrations.
Many schools and other education institutions make a special effort to inform children of their rights.
Children showcased different activities among which, singing, drama, citing a poem, exhibiting how a child should behave while at home and school.
While presiding over the ceremony, Princess Joan Nassolo advised the parents and teachers to collaborate and observe that the behaviors and discipline of children are improved so that there is a bright and fruitful future for the young generation.
Namasole Margaret Siwoza taught child how to behave in presence of visitors at home.
Nagginda Noelin of Busega Preparatory school was the best in citing a poem. He won a trip to Dubai courtesy of Ethiopian airlines.
Among the schools that participated include; St Janan SSS, Lake view SSS Entebbe, Trinity College Nabbingo, among others.
This year the Kingdom of Buganda is celebrating 25 years since the Kabaka was installed as the King of Buganda. This came after the reinstating of Kingdoms and traditional leadership in Uganda.
Ssaabasajja Kabaka was installed as a King on 31st July 1993 at Naggalabi.
