Sandwiched between the Kawolo Division headquarters, Uganda Prisons and the Uganda Railway reserve is a big chunk of land owned by the Kingdom of Buganda.

On Tuesday,  April 10, 2018, the Prime Minister (Katikiro) of Buganda Kingdom Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga officially handed over the land title to a delegation from Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) led by the president Moses Magogo.

The donated land is part of the 49 Acres owned by the Kingdom in the same locality of which part is occupied by the Kawolo headquarters, the other by Uganda Prisons and the remainder owned by the Uganda Railways.

FUFA secured this land at the start of 2018 with the assistance of Buganda region delegate Joseph Mwanje before the crucial documentations took effect.

While speaking at the ground breaking ceremony at Lugazi, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga said, when FUFA requested for land to construct the stadium, we briefed the Kabaka who blessed the request because it is a development promoting sports development.

FUFA President who was accompanied by his two vice presidents Justus Mugisha and Darius Mugoye saluted Buganda Kingdom for the kind gesture of granting the federation land where such a project can be executed.

Magogo noted;

FUFA has enjoyed good relations with the Buganda Kingdom since the days of Ssekabaka Daudi Chwa who was the first FUFA President in 1924. I am glad to be the president of the federation at a time such developments are taking place. I thank the Buganda Kingdom for the support by providing the land where the FUFA Stadium will be constructed. The project will last for five years and will be executed in phases. The project source of funding shall be majorly from FIFA as well as other partners and stake holders
