Thousands of people from various parts of the country have participated in the Kabaka’s birthday run in Lubiri today.

The run precedes the birthday of Kabaka slated on 13th April and will be celebrated at Ndejje secondary in Luwero, Bulemeezi County.


Prince David Kintu Wassajja led the 21km race while Princess Katrina Ssangalyambogo was the chief runner in the 10km race.

Participants in both 21km, 10km, and 5km race included the elderly and the young who most of the parts of the route.

The marathon came to conclusion at Lubiri where participants were treated with entertainment from Ugandan based artists.

While flagging off the runners, His Majesty King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II advised the youths who are yet to find the spouses to first undergo Sickle cell screening so that they be notified of their fate.

He urged parents with children suffering from Sickle cells to ensure they receive proper treatment.

This year's race attracted 60,000 participants with the proceedings going towards the fight against Sickle Cell disease.
