Buganda Kingdom has conveyed its sympathies to the people of Bugishu for the tragedy that has left many dead and thousands missing.
Three villages of Nametsi, Kubehwo and Namakansa in Bududa district of Bugishu were on Monday evening buried by mudslides along with hundreds of residents on the slopes of Mt. Elgon.
In a statement issued on Wednesday 3rd, Katikkiro Eng J.B. Walusimbi on behalf of the Kingdom said that Buganda has been saddened by this grievous tragedy and that the people of Buganda are commiserating with the distraught residents of Bududa.
Walusimbi added that “in moments like these, everyone in Uganda should contribute towards helping out the many victims who need humanitarian assistance badly”.
He called for unity regardless of the different political, religious and ethnic affiliations to encounter this common problem because disaster can strike anywhere anytime.
Katikkiro further called for prayers for the affected residents who need to be very strong as they go through this difficult period of grief. |
